The Configurator software checks a configuration file for errors before saving it. If you have edited the configuration file by hand there may be syntax errors and the Configuratorwill identify those by the line number the error is on.

It is possible to see the line numbers of the configuration by

• Printing the configuration file with the Configurator software
  
• Opening the configuration file in a text editor that has an automatic line counting feature such as the Crimson Editor or Microsoft Word
  
• Load the text of the configuration file into the web browser of the MultiCom Firewall and it will highlight the lines with errors in red.

To load the Configuration file into the built-in web server

1. in the Configurator, click on Tools > Edit Config
   
2. highlight entire config and copy it
   
3. go to the web entry interface of the Ethernet II/III http://10.0.0.1/tools/config[current]
   
4. Delete the existing configuration and paste the one you copied into the window
   
5. click the SUBMIT button
   
6. scroll down until you see the error in red

WARNING - you cannot do this using the short syntax mode of the Configurator... be sure this Option is turned off by clicking on Options in the Edit Config window and verifying the "short syntax" button is turned off.
