Below are a few ways you may have blocked access to your MultiCom Firewall and their solutions.

A) You changed the LAN interface IP address and/ or subnet but did not change your workstation's IP configuration. SOLUTION: either change the static IP configuration of your workstation to match the Ethernet interface of the Firewall you are connected to or refresh the DHCP client of the workstation if you are using DHCP.

B) You changed your LAN interface as above but the Configurator software does not know that you changed the IP address of the Firewall. SOLUTION: close your existing Configurator windows except the Main window and click on the search button again to find your Firewall.

C) You have blocked access with the Filter Rules from your workstation

D) You have blocked access with the NAT rules from your workstation (maybe the firewall was enabled on your LAN interface accidentally)

E) The Ethernet interface of the Firewall does not have a valid IP address (either the IP was set to 0.0.0.0, there was no DHCP server to give it an IP address, or there was no PPPoE server to give it an IP address.

Unless it is case A or B it is easiest to reboot the MultiCom Firewall into the default configuration and either edit your saved configuration or make a new one. If your MultiCom Firewall has a console interface you can also connect to it and issue diagnostic commands and make configuration changes.

To load the Firewall's default configuration...

  1. power off the MultiCom Firewall
  2. while holding down the "config" button in the back of the Firewall, turn on the MultiCom Firewall
  3. continue holding the config button while the MultiCom Firewall finishes booting (when the LAN and/or WAN led remains a steady green or red and the rest of the leds have stopped blinking.)
