In 3.3+ PPTP encapsulation is an option in the Easy Setup configuration for the WAN interface. It is designed for use with the Alcatel Modem ANT-1000 and has only been tested in Holland and Austria. PPTP passthrough is available in firmware 3.3 and higher.

If using 3.2 and PPTP one must
  1. use the advanced Configurator to configure the WAN interface to be on whatever subnet the ADSL modem is on
  2. use the advanced Configurator to create a PPP connection, choose PPTP encapsulation, enter the username, enter the password, and enter the IP address of the ADSL modem
  3. in most cases the ADSL modem will default to the 10.x.x.x range so the user will have to reconfigure the LAN to be on a different subnet such as 192.168.0.1 with subnet 255.255.255.0
  4. reconfigure any DHCP clients on the LAN to be in the same subnet range of the LAN interface
  5. finally, either reset the workstation DHCP client or reconfigure the workstation static IP address to make use of the MultiCom Firewall.
